The encaustic medium is magical, vibrant and translucent.  My creative muse guides, inspires and feeds my soul through this medium, mixed media and collage.  Blessing me with endless moments of creative joy and harmony...providing those ahhaa moments about life.  Join me on this creative journey, spend some time reading my musings about this life, the blessed other souls that come into contact with mine, however brief or often, that can leave everlasting imprints on our journey....perhaps our lives might share some similarities, bringing us closer and more connected...and less isolated.

"I suppose there is one friend in the life of each of us who seems not a separate person, however dear and beloved, but an expansion, an interpretation, of one's self, the very meaning of one's soul." ~ Edith Wharton

Here's to finding those expansive moments.....

Laura Culic says her " paintings are a response to a deep and abiding love of the natural world – in particular, the wild places of Ontario. Many thoughts run through my head as I paint which influence the direction of my work: thoughts that include geography; natural science; exploration; history; journeying and map making; songs, poems and stories; the Canadian landscape and our relationship to it."

Fresh Water Biology, 24 x 24

Spirit House, 14 x 20 x6

Supria Karmakar, writes that "this series was initially inspired by the small roadside temples that can be found in Thailand; where, these tiny shrines are proudly offered to ancestors, often full of trinkets, incense, flowers and other offerings laid forth with a prayer or message.

In this body of work, Spirit House, I reflect on the concept of home, the spiritual and philosophical notion of home versus the literal manifestation of it, with its walls and belongings. Home can be informed by our ancestral roots and ties that create our sense of self and inform our journey and decisions. The idea of home explored in this work is about my inner journey, my ancestral ties and I contemplate on “what creates meaning and belonging?”. The culminating thought is that home is where we make it and the true sense of home resonates from within us, where we find authenticity, joy, bliss and sometimes even deep darkness and suffering. The key essence being seeking to be ever present in the moment with whatever arises and finding its meaning."
