Changing Surfaces
– An Art Exhibition
Textile and
Encaustic Mixed Media
Marilyn Clarke and
Supria Karmakar
Carnegie Gallery
10 King Street West
Dundas, Ontario
June 3-June 26, 2011
Opening Reception
Friday June 3, 7-9:30 pm
Supria and Marilyn share an approach that involves the layering of materials and colour, resulting in rich textured, vibrant and translucent surfaces.
Intersections can be seen in themes unearthing personal and universal narratives. Throughout archetypal and representational forms are employed using detailed and often elaborate approaches to surface manipulation. Supria and Marilyn invite the viewer to go beyond what is on the surface-to see delicacy, strength, and
fragility, colliding within the surface
frames.
