The encaustic medium is magical, vibrant and translucent.  My creative muse guides, inspires and feeds my soul through this medium, mixed media and collage.  Blessing me with endless moments of creative joy and harmony...providing those ahhaa moments about life.  Join me on this creative journey, spend some time reading my musings about this life, the blessed other souls that come into contact with mine, however brief or often, that can leave everlasting imprints on our journey....perhaps our lives might share some similarities, bringing us closer and more connected...and less isolated.

"I suppose there is one friend in the life of each of us who seems not a separate person, however dear and beloved, but an expansion, an interpretation, of one's self, the very meaning of one's soul." ~ Edith Wharton

Here's to finding those expansive moments.....

Yours - Yourself to Trust

"Yours, Yourself - Trust" 2009
This piece is about letting go and beginning the process of loving yourself,
trusting yourself...With that all is possible.

Love after Love by Derek Walcott

The time will come
when, with elation
you greet yourself arriving
at your own door, in your own mirror,
and each will smile at the other's welcome
and say, sit here. Eat.
You will love again the stranger who was yourself.
Give wine, Give bread, Give back your heart
to itself, to the stranger who has loved you
all your life, who you ignored
for another, who knows you by heart
Take down the love letters from the bookshelf,
the photographs, the desperate notes.
Peel your own image from the mirror
Sit, Feast on your own life.
Today is this moment Feast on your unique and outrageously beautiful life.

I love the use of color you have in this one (and the last few). They are so rich and yummy~ and meaningful too!

I rarely read something I feel so deeply. The only person we need trust is ourself. I remember when I was "remembering" to love myself. I would listen to love songs and instead of longing for the love they spoke of, I would sing them to myself, about myself. Beautiful collage. Thank you!

P.S. have you read "The Dance of the Dissident Daughter" by Sue Monk Kidd? Brilliant!

Supria,
This is the most beautiful art work and accompanying poem - trust. I never heard of the poem by Derek Walcott before, but it's strikingly meaningful-and I can see myself in it. I don't look anything like the woman in the picture, but when I look at your stunning artwork, I see myself- my mirror image. I love the flowers, jewels, writing in the background and the music notes you've incorporated-all bringing such harmony to the flow of your work. How amazing our perceptions are and how what our eyes see can be so different from what our mind sees. And your theme of Helen Keller for your AB -a woman who lived through her mind and soul, is so interwoven with my thoughts. Thank you for this beautiful image and post.

Hi all:
Thanks so much for your comments on this blog...it is true, though this woman doesn't look like myself either...I feel her and see her as me....so much and the poem is about that process sometimes we loose site of...always love yourself...I am finding that 'self' these days..some days are so easy and others not so...c'est la vie!
