The encaustic medium is magical, vibrant and translucent.  My creative muse guides, inspires and feeds my soul through this medium, mixed media and collage.  Blessing me with endless moments of creative joy and harmony...providing those ahhaa moments about life.  Join me on this creative journey, spend some time reading my musings about this life, the blessed other souls that come into contact with mine, however brief or often, that can leave everlasting imprints on our journey....perhaps our lives might share some similarities, bringing us closer and more connected...and less isolated.

"I suppose there is one friend in the life of each of us who seems not a separate person, however dear and beloved, but an expansion, an interpretation, of one's self, the very meaning of one's soul." ~ Edith Wharton

Here's to finding those expansive moments.....

Phil Irish, The Adventures of Painterly Imagination, Elora Fergus Studio Tour, Free Draw Continues

Phil Irish, is a member of the Elora - Fergus Studio Tour, and will be one of the fabulous artists opening up his studio to meet the artist and see his work up close and personal.  This particular piece, is one that I viewed during the Insights Show, and I have to say it BLEW ME was magnificent and intriguing.

For Phil, the practice of painting has become a way of exploring the world, stimulating imagination, and of sparking deep exchange with others.

In 2007, his work was shortlisted for the Kingston Prize, Canada's National Portrait Competition.

There are many reasons this piece blew me away, one of them being that it was gloriously large and the colour was breathe taking.. what kind of art give you that feeling of being blown away, is it size, colour, the message, the detail, the illusion, the technique?  Love to hear your thoughts.

What type of painting blows me away?

Something real. Not realistic, but that painters truth lit from within the work.
